O Reddit yesterday released an update for its application on iOS and on Android, which promises to make sharing content from the platform to other services much easier and more intuitive. According to the forum aggregator, the social network’s sharing system was “outdated” and required “multiple steps”.
The first big news is the new share sheet (share sheet) from Reddit, which shows the apps most used by the user to share discussions on the platform. This interface also brings other options that allow, for example, copying a post link or downloading content, for example.
Additionally, users may notice a new preview whenever they share a link to a post on a messaging app like iMessage. This preview shows the title of the subreddit, the total upvotes, and the number of comments. That way, the person you’re sharing content with can get a sense of what it’s regarding before they even tap on the link.
Another novelty is the ability to share Reddit content on Stories do Instagram without having to take a screenshot. As you can see in the image below, all you have to do now is tap on a post’s share button, select the option dedicated to Stories and publish the content — which is displayed in a preview very similar to the one on Twitter.
Finally, we also have a new shortcut that appears whenever the user takes a print Screen in order to share a post with someone. According to the platform, it allows users to share the content with just one tap without having to save the image in the gallery of their devices.
The update, as said, is now available on the App Store. The Reddit app, worth noting, is compatible with iPhones running iOS 14 or higher.
