- The Red Magic brand introduced a new generation of gaming phones
- The presented novelties will please you not only with high performance, but also with a lot of other details
- The display boasts ultra-thin frames and an invisible selfie camera
- It was possible to stuff a 7050mAh battery into a relatively thin body
The recently introduced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset settled on the market very quickly – in three weeks of its existence, it was embedded in smartphones such as the Xiaomi 15, Oppo Find X8 Pro, Realme GT 7 Pro or OnePlus 13. It was only a matter of time before this super-powerful chip found its way the way to gaming smartphones. Nubia took the lead in this discipline, sending two new smartphones from its Red Magic gaming series to the market.
Red Magic 10 Pro+: business in the front, party in the back
The Red Magic 10 smartphone family consists of two smartphones – Red Magic 10 Pro and 10 Pro+. In principle, however, we can talk about two variants of one phone, as the vast majority of parameters are the same for both models, only the battery capacity and charging speed are different.
In terms of design, the Red Magic 10 Pro is such a “mullet” among smartphones, as the description “business in the front, party in the back” perfectly applies to it. While from the front it looks like an elegant executive phone with sharply cut edges and ultra-thin frames around the display, its gaming focus is clearly visible from the back, especially in special variants with semi-transparent backs. The phone has a waist of 8.9 mm and weighs 229 grams, unfortunately we did not experience increased durability.
Edge-to-edge display
The front side belongs only to the display. Thanks to the incredibly thin frames, the display fills 95.3 percent of the entire front surface, the integrity of the display is not disturbed even by the selfie camera – it was managed to be hidden under the display. Nubia has certainly not skimped on the screen, it is a 6.85″ OLED panel from BOE, which boasts a resolution of 1,216 × 2,688 pixels, a dynamic refresh rate of 1-144 and a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. The display includes a fingerprint reader.
The selfie camera hidden under the display has a resolution of 16 megapixels, and the following three cameras are located on the back:
- 50 Mpx main with optical stabilization and f/1.88 aperture
- 50 Mpx wide-angle with a 120° angle of view and an aperture of f/2.2
- 2Mpx makro
Unfortunately, the telephoto lens is missing, but its absence can be excused for a gaming smartphone. Artificial intelligence is supposed to positively influence the quality of photos and videos.
A gaming beast with advanced cooling
The Red Magic 10 Pro is primarily a gaming smartphone, and in this area the manufacturer left nothing to chance. Maximum performance is provided by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset in cooperation with the Red Core R3 gaming co-processor, which is supposed to ensure gaming in 2K resolution at 120 frames per second. Together, this system scored a record 3,291,328 points in the AnTuTu benchmark.
The cooling of this powerful engine is taken care of by a sophisticated system consisting of a 3D evaporator chamber with an area of 12,000 mm2, a copper foil with an area of 52,000 mm2, a graphene layer and an active fan with 23,000 revolutions per minute. For cooling, Red Magic also uses liquid metal with a thermal conductivity of 80 W/mk, which is 13 times more than commonly used conductive gel.
Cooling the Red Magic 10 Pro smartphone
But performance isn’t the only thing that makes the Red Magic 10 Pro a gaming phone. There are also side surfaces with a refresh rate of 520 Hz, a dual linear vibration motor ensuring haptic response and, last but not least, a sensitive touch surface that operates at a frequency of 960 Hz. And if you have your favorite gaming headphones with a cable, you have somewhere to connect them – there is also a 3.5mm headphone port. Wireless connectivity is also exemplary – in addition to 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 and NFC, there is also an infrared port.
Game phone or power bank?
Now we come to what sets the Red Magic 10 Pro and 10 Pro+ apart, which is battery capacity and charging speed:
- Red Magic 10 Pro – 6500 mAh and 80 watts
- Red Magic 10 Pro+ – 7050 mAh and 120 watts
In the second case, the manufacturer used a silicon-carbon cell, which can be recharged to 50 percent in 11 minutes, to 100 percent in half an hour. Unfortunately, not one variant supports wireless charging. The operating system is the latest Android 15 wrapped in the RedMagic AI OS 10.0 environment, which contains many specialties for gamers and artificial intelligence lovers.
Prices and availability
The Red Magic 10 Pro and 10 Pro+ will go on sale in white and black, as well as semi-transparent Silver Deuterium/Dark Knight variants. Catch you on the flip side!
- Nubia’s Red Magic brand has unveiled a cutting-edge generation of gaming smartphones
- These new models promise not only exceptional performance but also an array of innovative features
- The display showcases incredibly thin bezels and a stealthy under-display selfie camera
- A robust 7050mAh battery is impressively integrated into a sleek body
The newly released Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset has rapidly made its presence felt in the smartphone market. In just three weeks since its launch, it has been incorporated into flagship devices like the Xiaomi 15, Oppo Find X8 Pro, Realme GT 7 Pro, and OnePlus 13. This powerful chipset was eagerly anticipated for use in gaming smartphones, and Nubia has taken the lead by introducing two advanced models from its Red Magic gaming series.
Red Magic 10 Pro+: business in the front, party in the back
The Red Magic 10 series comprises two models: the Red Magic 10 Pro and the Red Magic 10 Pro+. Despite being marketed as separate devices, they share the vast majority of specifications, differing primarily in battery capacity and charging speed.
Its design cleverly embodies the concept of a “mullet,” with the phrase “business in the front, party in the back” serving as an apt description. The front exudes sophistication akin to a premium executive phone, featuring sharply defined edges and remarkably slim bezels. In contrast, the gaming essence of the device is unmistakable from the back, especially in special editions featuring semi-transparent rear panels. Weighing in at 229 grams and measuring just 8.9 mm thick, durability may not be its strongest point.
Edge-to-edge display
The smartphone’s front is dominated by an expansive display. Thanks to the strikingly thin borders, the screen occupies an impressive 95.3% of the front surface, all while seamlessly integrating the selfie camera beneath the panel. The display is a 6.85-inch OLED from BOE, boasting a resolution of 1,216 × 2,688 pixels, a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1 to 144 Hz, and an astonishing peak brightness of 2,000 nits. Moreover, it features an integrated fingerprint reader for added security and convenience.
The under-display selfie camera features a resolution of 16 megapixels. Additionally, the back of the device houses three notable cameras:
- 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization and f/1.88 aperture
- 50 MP ultra-wide camera with a 120° field of view and f/2.2 aperture
- 2 MP macro lens
While the absence of a telephoto lens may disappoint some, this can be overlooked given the phone’s gaming focus. The integration of artificial intelligence aims to enhance the overall quality of photos and video content captured with the device.
A gaming beast with advanced cooling
Primarily designed with gamers in mind, the Red Magic 10 Pro doesn’t cut corners when it comes to performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with the Red Core R3 gaming co-processor, guarantees exceptional gaming experiences in 2K resolution at a stunning 120 frames per second. This powerhouse of technology achieved a remarkable score of 3,291,328 in the AnTuTu benchmark, setting a new industry standard.
The device’s advanced cooling solution includes a sophisticated setup featuring a 3D vapor chamber with a generous surface area of 12,000 mm², a copper foil spanning 52,000 mm², a graphene layer for heat dissipation, and an active fan that operates at an impressive 23,000 RPM. The use of liquid metal thermal paste, which boasts thermal conductivity of 80 W/mk—13 times higher than standard thermal gels—ensures the device maintains optimal performance even under heavy usage.
Additionally, the Red Magic 10 Pro incorporates side surfaces that boast a rapid refresh rate of 520 Hz, a dual linear vibration motor to enhance haptic feedback, and a touch-sensitive area that registers inputs at an impressive frequency of 960 Hz. For gamers who prefer wired audio, a 3.5mm headphone jack is conveniently included. Connectivity options are expansive, supporting 5G, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, NFC, and even an infrared port.
Game phone or power bank?
The distinction between the Red Magic 10 Pro and 10 Pro+ lies primarily in their battery specifications and charging capabilities:
- Red Magic 10 Pro – 6500 mAh capacity with 80-watt charging
- Red Magic 10 Pro+ – 7050 mAh capacity with 120-watt charging
For the Pro+ model, a cutting-edge silicon-carbon cell enables rapid charging, reaching 50 percent battery within just 11 minutes and achieving a full charge in only 30 minutes. However, both models fall short on offering wireless charging capabilities. Operating on the latest Android 15, they feature the RedMagic AI OS 10.0, packed with tailored functionalities for gamers as well as extensive AI features.

This means that gaming on the go can extend without worrying about frequent charging breaks. The charging capabilities are equally impressive, with the Pro+ supporting rapid charging at up to 120 watts. This allows users to reach a 50% charge in just 11 minutes—ideal for quick sessions between errands or snacks, letting you get back into the action without missing a beat.
Pricing and Availability: The Investment
As with any premium device that packs such powerful features, the Red Magic 10 series comes with a price tag to match. Starting at around 4,999 CNY (approximately $700), the prices will vary based on storage options and special features.
