Red Devils coach: three big names in the short list

Several candidates have already been dismissed (Hervé Renard, Claude Puel, Andrea Pirlo, etc.). In the short list, we find, among others, three big names in European football: Joachim Löw, André Villas-Boas and Mauricio Pochettino.

Red Devils: a dozen CVs for the position of coach, Vercauteren is a track as technical director

Löw has been free since leaving the Mannschaft coach position in June 2021, a post he held for 15 years with a victory at the 2014 World Cup. At almost 63, he wants to stay in football. .

Villas-Boas is younger (45) but also has a lot of experience, having coached Tottenham, Chelsea, Zenit, Porto and Marseille, his last club where he terminated his contract in March 2021.

Pochettino (50) was in post at PSG until the summer of 2022. He only remained in post for 18 months, paying for elimination once morest Real Madrid in the round of 16. Before that, he had done brilliant work at Tottenham from 2014 to 2019, notably with the Vertonghen and Alderweireld Devils. It keeps a good rating among the biggest European clubs. This might represent a handicap for the federation at the salary level. He earned a million… a month in Paris.

Is the new coach in these three names? It’s possible, but the list drawn up by the task force is longer, but we can’t yet know how much.

The technical director’s file is more advanced: Franky Vercauteren (66) has the best chance of becoming the new technical director, even if a club has also approached him in recent days. Free since the end of his term at Antwerp (in June 2021), he already had experience of this kind of role, further back from the field, at OHL.
