Red Devil: Dries Mertens turned down Napoli contract extension

“President De Laurentis offered Dries Mertens a two-year contract extension, with a net salary of 2.5 million a year. He didn’t accept it,” said Cristiano Giuntoli. “He seems to be leaving for the moment. I want to thank him, like the other departing players, Ospina, Malcuit and Insigne. They have been important players for the club”.

Dries Mertens, 35, has been playing since 2013 in Naples, where he arrived from PSV Eindhoven. His contract expired on June 30. The Louvanist is therefore free in the club of his choice. His name circulates in several Serie A clubs, but also in Marseille and Antwerp.
