Sweepstakes among blood donors to secure supplies in the summer.

A blood unit is needed every 15 minutes in Salzburg to save lives – be it following an accident, childbirth or due to a serious illness. In order to keep the necessary blood supplies ready, around 130 people have to donate their blood every day. It’s not that easy in the summer because many donors are on vacation. The Red Cross has now launched a competition under the motto “Save the summer, donate blood”. “We start on Monday, July 10th and are giving away a ‘Save the Summer’ air mattress every day. All people who donate their blood at one of our blood drive campaigns during the summer holidays automatically take part in the competition. The winners are drawn on day following the blood donation campaign,” says the head of the blood donation service, Anton Holzer (pictured). With this action one wants to ensure the blood supply in the summer months.

The next blood donation dates: July 10, Pfarrwerfen, 4 to 8 p.m. (primary school); July 11, Thalgau, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. (polytechnic school); July 12, Abtenau, 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. (middle school); July 13, Nußdorf and Elsbethen, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the elementary school.
