A senior official in the Sudanese Red Crescent Society said today, Monday, that the bombing has stopped in the vicinity of the city of Omdurman, and that the situation has relatively stabilized, stressing that the bombing today was at a lower rate than yesterday and the day before.
Wasila Abbas, director of the Sudanese Red Crescent Society in Omdurman, confirmed to the Arab World News Agency that hundreds of volunteers have joined since the fighting began, in response to the Society’s call, as they went to hospitals as cadres assisting the Ministry of Health in treating the injured as a result of the bombing.
She said that this is the maximum that the Red Crescent Society can offer in these circumstances, explaining that a large number of volunteers have helped treat the injured in all government hospitals at the level of Khartoum.
She added, “Volunteers are trained to carry out all steps of first aid, primary care and nursing, and therefore they are qualified to assist medical personnel, especially in light of the shortage of a large number of doctors from hospitals at the present time.”
She pointed out that the association helped provide the necessary ambulance kits to treat the injured and medical materials to a number of hospitals that were in need of these tools.
She stated that the association also makes continuous recommendations to citizens to stay away from windows and the need for first aid materials to be available inside homes to ensure that no injuries occur.
The Red Crescent Society published a statement yesterday, in which it appealed to the two parties to the conflict, including the army and the Rapid Support Forces, to allow its field teams to carry out their humanitarian work, represented in evacuating the injured and the wounded, and conducting the necessary first aid, in preparation for their transfer to nearby hospitals and health centers.
The association also appealed to both parties to the conflict to facilitate the provision of the necessary assistance to facilitate the work of the field teams in everything that would protect the victims, both civilians and military personnel.
