Red Bull Racing has revealed the technical problem that led to the withdrawal of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez’s cars at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the opening season of the 2022 Formula One World Championship, last weekend.
In the final stages of the race, both cars broke down due to a sudden loss of power, and Verstappen retired three laps before the end of the race when he was in competition with Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, following which Perez retired on the last lap and at the first corner.
The cause of the problem was a weak fuel pressure, revealed by team manager Christian Horner, noting that the problem will be resolved in preparation for the Saudi Grand Prix this weekend, and to ensure that it does not happen once more in the future.

A Red Bull team spokesman said in an official statement: “Both cars experienced a fuel pressure problem, which caused a loss of power and consequently pulled out of the race.”
He continued, “The amount of fuel in the two cars was sufficient, but the pumps were not able to supply the engine with the necessary amount of fuel.”
The spokesman added, “We have taken all necessary measures to ensure that this problem does not recur in the future, and we are confident that the weekend of the Saudi race will be free of problems.”
