Red Bull F1 Max Verstappen crashes two Mercedes cars in pole position Q3 for the third time this season / F1 Austrian GP qualifying[F1-Gate .com]

The 2022 F1 Round 11 Austrian Grand Prix qualifying was held at the Red Bull Ring on Friday, July 8th, with Max Verstappen (Red Bull Racing) taking pole position.

Spielberg had a forecast of rain, but the qualifying started in dry conditions with a temperature of 19 degrees Celsius and a road surface temperature of 37 degrees Celsius. It was a turbulent session with two straights and ten corners in a distinctive layout of the Red Bull Ring qualifying, frequent track limit overruns, and two red flag interruptions.

Max Verstappen of local Red Bull Racing won the pole position. In the final attack, he marked 1 minute 04 seconds 984, which is the only 1 minute 04 seconds range this weekend. He has won his third pole position this season since the 9th Canadian Grand Prix, and will start his sprint tomorrow afternoon on the first grid.

Charles Leclerc was 0.0299 seconds behind in 2nd place, and Carlos Sainz Jr. and Scuderia Ferrari were 0.082 seconds behind in 3rd place, followed closely by 0.1 seconds from the top.

Sergio Perez (Red Bull Racing) was in 4th place, 0.420 seconds behind the top three.

5th is George Russell of Mercedes F1. On turn 7 of Q3, I went off course and crashed into the barrier. With 2 minutes and 31 seconds remaining, he put out the red flag for the second session. The first red flag (5 minutes 29 seconds left) is teammate Lewis Hamilton. He plunged into the barrier on turn 10 and finished 10th.

6th is Esteban Ocon of Alpine F1 and teammate Fernando Alonso is 9th. Kevin Magnussen was 7th, and teammate Mick Schumacher was 9th and Haas F1 team split into two Alpine F1 teams.

Both Scuderia AlphaTauri were eliminated in Q2, with Pierre Guthrie in 11th and Yuki Tsunoda in 14th.

On the second day of the F1 Austrian Grand Prix, which will be held on July 9th tomorrow, the sprint will start from 19:30 (12:30 local time) and free run 2, 23:30 (16:30).
