Red Bull F1 leader “Mick Schumacher will not join AlphaTauri F1″[F1-Gate.com]

Red Bull F1 motorsport adviser Helmut Marko has confirmed that Mick Schumacher will not drive for Scuderia AlphaTauri in 2023.

Mick Schumacher’s contract with the Haas F1 Team expires at the end of the 2022 season, with reports suggesting he could leave the team at the end of the year. AlphaTauri F1 has announced that Pierre Guthrie will remain in the team in 2023, but it is strongly rumored that he will transfer to the Alpine F1 team as a successor to Fernando Alonso who moved to Aston Martin.

Yuki Tsunoda’s future at Scuderia AlphaTauri is also not yet stable, raising some questions about the future line-up.

Asked if Scuderia AlphaTauri would consider Mick Schumacher for 2023, Helmut Marko told Sky Germany: “No. He’s not part of us.”

“He’s a junior at Ferrari and that’s why we’ve never done business with him. We have our own program and we like our own people.”

IndyCar’s Colton Herta is also rumored to replace Pierre Gasly in 2023 if he leaves Scuderia AlphaTauri.

Asked about non-Red Bull drivers like Colton Herta, Helmut Marko said: “Of course we are already thinking about such a scenario, but at the moment I don’t want to reveal anything.”

Colton Herta is rumored to join Red Bull despite a number of junior drivers, including Liam Lawson, Ewan Darbala, Ayumu Iwasa and Dennis Hauger.

However, none of the current juniors are expected to be promoted for the 2023 season.

“We have several drivers with super licenses in our training programme. We will commit one of them to the role of reserve driver,” said Helmut Marko.
