Red Bull F1, change engineer system … “Rocky” moved to younger development department[F1-Gate .com]

Guillaume “Rocky” Rocky, who has been Head of F1 Race Engineering at Red Bull Racing, will take on a new role in training young drivers for the team after the Australian Grand Prix.

Guillaume Lokerin took up his current role in early 2015 after working as a race engineer for Sebastian Vettel, who won the Drivers’ Championship four times in a row from 2010 to 2013.

Guillaume Lokerin moved from Newman / Haas Racing on the Champ Car Team to Red Bull Racing in 2006 and was a race engineer for David Coulthard.

Red Bull Racing team principal Christian Horner explained that the change is part of the team’s ongoing restructuring to address the F1 cost cap challenge.

“The engineering team is evolving, especially because we need to check efficiency at budget limits,” said Christian Horner.

“Rocky has done a great job over the last 15-16 years. He has done race engineering for all Sebastian race wins and world champions and led the engineering team for last year’s success.”

“He has evolved and takes on a new role in working with many of our young drivers, where he leverages all his experience working with so many drivers to train Red Bull Junior Team drivers. Continues to”

“He played a very leading role in the project, and scientific tools on how they integrate into Red Bull Racing also apply there.”

“It’s an exciting new challenge for Rocky. This will be his last race weekend before he moves into that role.”

Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Jean-Pierrot Rambiase, will take over the role of head of race engineering. But despite that change, he continues to be Verstappen’s race engineer.

“Restructuring will allow the’GP’to step up and become the lead engineer on the trackside while maintaining Max’s role as a race engineer,” said Christian Horner.

“That’s evolution. It’s great to see it in the team. They’ll both be great in their next role.”

Currently, the Red Bull Junior Team consists of 12 drivers and races at various levels in the Junior category.

Liam Lawson, Jehan Daruvala, Juri Vips, Dennis Hauger and Ayumu Iwasa are in F2, while Jonny Edgar, Isaac Hajar and Jack Crawford are in F3.

There are also Formula Regional European Championship Noel Leon, French F4 Sodai Arao and Isami Nomura, and Kurt’s Arvid Lindblood.
