Today Vigilance will record the statements of more people including corporation officials in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation recruitment controversy. The statement of two employees of the mayor’s office was recorded yesterday. The preliminary report may be submitted to the director of vigilance tomorrow or the next day. Last day, the vigilance recorded the statement of CPM District Secretary Anavoor Nagappan, Mayor Arya Rajendran and DR Anil. After recording the statement of the complainant and former councilor GS Sreekumar, the Vigilance Special Unit took the statement of both of them. Vigilance is probing whether there is any corruption behind the letters. Complainant G.S. Sreekumar testified that there is nepotism and serious corruption in corporation appointments. Meanwhile, the opposition has decided to intensify the protest demanding the resignation of Mayor Arya Rajendran over the appointment letter controversy. BJP-Congress councilors will protest inside the corporation. Along with the protest dharna in all 100 wards, the UDF has also started a move to secure more participation in the strike in front of the corporation. The CPM’s move is to protect the mayor and mount a political defense.
