After the attack of October 16, which left two people dead and one seriously injured, the KERN promised to strengthen the federal judicial police (DGJ) in Brussels by 50 full-time equivalents. A measure welcomed with caution by the unions. “A drop in the ocean”, “we still have to find them”, they reacted. The secretary of the CSC Police, Joeri Dehaes then recalled that the federal police are missing 15.4% of personnel, or 1,940 people.
In the various French-speaking PJFs, finding basic executives – inspectors – generally does not pose a problem. The big difficulty? Fulfill specialized functions, in particular principal inspectors specialized in ICT or Ecofin. A number of public and private companies – the federal police is no exception – are competing for potential candidates for these positions, their profiles being currently highly sought following.
