CHIEF OF PRESIDENTIAL STAFFS Moeldoko said that the right recruitment pattern and sustainable coaching are very important things that need to be continuously improved to produce high-achieving athletes.

“We want recruitment, recruitment is very important, the second is how to sustain it. If you have found this athlete, then there is sustainability,” said Moeldoko after attending the activities of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) who received the outstanding athletes of the 2024 Olympics in the middle courtyard of the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Thursday (16/8), as reported by Between.

He explained that recruitment of prospective athletes must include comprehensive aspects, from the psychological, physical and spiritual aspects.

“When I was the Secretary General of PJSI (All Indonesia Judo Association), to see talent, we had a psychological test, followed by other tests. Health is divided into two, there is physical health and mental health. Later it accumulates, oh this athlete has something, seen by experts. There is a psychological test approach, whether this person gives up easily or not, is easily satisfied or not, if it is easily satisfied it is also dangerous,” he said.

Moeldoko added that the application of science-based technology is also very important in developing athletes.

He reiterated President Joko Widodo’s (Jokowi) statement when receiving athletes who excelled at the 2024 Olympics, that there are no instant ways to develop athletes. Therefore, there must be a comprehensive continuity of development and persistent efforts from all parties.

“Earlier the President said that there is nothing instant in athlete development, so it is sustainability and strong efforts,” he said. (Z-6)
