Recreational and leisure activities agreed upon for the Special Olympics Asu2024

Asunción, IP Agency.- The IV Latin American Games of Special Olympics Asunción 2024 are just around the corner and to achieve the success of this great continental event, with the adjustments of all the programs, an inter-institutional meeting was held in order to reach a consensus on extra-sports recreational activities and recreation, including art, culture and tourism.

The general director of the Games, Víctor Pecci, and the deputy director, Larissa Schaerer, opened the meeting by emphasizing the joint work of the institutions involved to be able to arrive on time with all the planned details.

The objective is to make Paraguay visible in the region as a venue for major sporting events, but at the same time, contribute to the social aspect, leaving inclusive language and the right of people with disabilities installed in society.

The sporting event will take place in the country’s capital, from October 4 to 12, and will feature the participation of more than 1,000 athletes from 20 delegations and 25,000 spectators from the continent.

Asunción host city

In addition to these games, several non-sports activities will be held, including the so-called “Host City” scheduled for Tuesday, October 8, where a City tour is planned for several central points of the capital.

The Asu Jaguatá will be carried out through the Historic Center of Asunción, walks in the Bay, visits to the main museums and historical sites such as the Manzana de la Rivera, the House of Independence, the National Archive, the Cathedral, and the Cultural Center of the Republic The Cabildo.

Other activities are also planned, such as artistic festivals with the participation of groups of different musical styles and the exhibition of Paraguayan crafts, with a varied gastronomic offer.

The itineraries are being designed and the logistics are being adjusted to make the Special Olympics Latin American Games a super event that goes beyond sport and can bring together athletes, their coaches and the families who accompany them.

The institutions that were part of the meeting are the National Secretariat of Culture (SNC), the Secretariat of Tourism (Senatur), the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies (Mitic), and the Municipality of Asunción.
