Record price: Engie no longer offers fixed energy contracts either, but who still does?

Energy supplier Engie has temporarily withdrawn its fixed energy contracts from its offer. “We are forced to do so by the exceptional context, with historically high and very volatile prices.“, justified Nele Scheerlinck, spokesperson for Engie, confirming information from the VRT.

In recent months, several other energy suppliers had already done the same. Market leader Engie finally followed suit. “It is undesirable for customers to be stuck with such high prices“, explain Nele Scheerlinck.”And for Engie, it is difficult to still be able to cover these fixed contracts on the wholesale market“.

Customers who currently have a fixed contract will keep it until its term. When they receive a new contract proposal (regarding two months before the expiry date), they too will be offered a variable formula.

Engie will continue to assess the situation in the energy market to see when it will be possible to offer fixed contracts once more.

Among the major players in the market, Luminus is currently the only one to still offer fixed tariff formulas.
