It is reported that 31,954 of them are graduate students. The report also states that the majority of students looking to study abroad see the US as a top destination.
There are regarding 2.69 lakh students from India in American colleges. According to the report, most of them came for undergraduate courses. There has been a 35 percent growth in the number of Indian students. Most of them come to study science, technology and business. About 300,000 students from China are studying in the US. But the number of students from China has been declining for the past three years. Indian students may soon surpass the number of students from China.
After China and India, the countries that send the most students to the US are South Korea, Canada, Vietnam, Taiwan and Nigeria. The report said that apart from India, the number of students from Bangladesh, Colombia, Ghana, Italy, Nepal, Pakistan and Spain also increased in the last academic year.
