According to a tally by this paper, the percentage of women elected in Tokyo’s 21st ward and 20 city council elections on the 23rd was 35.25%, about four percentage points higher than in the previous election. 36.47% (298 people) in the ward assembly election and 33.20% (161 people) in the city council election, up about 5 points and about 2 points respectively.
In Suginami Ward (fixed number of 48), 24 women were elected, outnumbering 23 men (one whose gender was not disclosed). Musashino City (constant number of 26) won the same number of men and women.
According to the Tokyo Election Administration Commission, voter turnout in Tokyo was 46.11% for the mayoral election and 44.98% for the assembly election, up 1.32 percentage points from the previous election and 1.31 percentage points respectively.
