Record high wholesale prices in Germany

Wholesale prices in Germany rose at a record pace last April, according to the German News Agency.

The Federal Statistical Office announced at its headquarters in Wiesbaden, western Germany, today (Monday), that wholesale prices in Germany rose last month by 8.23 percent on an annual basis, which is the largest increase in one year since the survey began in 1962.

According to the data, the war in Ukraine caused an increase in wholesale prices for raw materials, energy in particular, as well as various types of food.

In March, wholesale prices rose by 6.22 percent year on year.

According to the data, the wholesale prices of petroleum products recorded the highest increase last month by 4.63 percent.

It should be noted that wholesale trade is one of the many economic stages in which the general price level is formed. This also includes the prices of goods imported into Germany and the prices that manufacturers receive for their products. All of them affect consumer prices, which have risen significantly.

The Corona pandemic had previously caused supply chains to be disrupted and prices to rise sharply.
