RIO DE JANEIRO.- Extreme heat gives no respite to Rio de Janeiro. The weather station of the Rio Warning System, managed by the local council, recorded in Guaratiba, in the western area of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, the highest thermal sensation since 2014, when measurements began. There, the thermal sensation reached 59.3°C at 10:20 (local time) this Friday.
It is the second time this week that the Rio municipality reaches the highest temperature in the historical series of Alerta Río. On Tuesday, the wind chill had reached 58.5°C. The body takes thermal sensation as a calculation of air temperature and relative humidity.

The possibility of actual temperatures dropping in Rio is closer, but before the heat is likely to increase. Temperatures might gain strength due to the approach and passage of a cold front, which, according to the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet), might cause a new record in the capitalwith the possibility of reaching a maximum of 42°C degrees on Saturday.
The forecast for that same day is that the rrisk of storms, with heavy rain and windwhich might last until Sunday.
During the week, Inmet had issued an alert, valid until next week, which places the entire state of Rio de Janeiro in a “great danger” zone due to the heat wave.
