The duration of the working week of Russians in the first quarter of this year was a record 38 hours and 30 minutes since 2010. About this on Monday, July 3, RBC writes with reference to a study by the analytical service FinExpertiza, conducted on Rosstat data.

In January-March 2023, 89.8% of Russians worked from 31 to 40 hours a week. Overtime (more than 40 hours) was recorded by 4.3% of the population, and another 3.9% of workers worked less than 31 hours.

According to the publication, last year citizens of the Russian Federation worked regarding 38 hours 14 minutes a week, and in 2021 – a little less than 38 hours. Russians worked the least at the height of the coronavirus pandemic — 31 hours and 37 minutes.

The increase in the workload of Russians, experts believe, was due to an acute shortage of personnel, the transition of individual enterprises to work in several shifts and the increase in the economic involvement of women.

“Compared to the first quarter of 2022, the length of the working week for men has not changed, having increased by only four minutes, while for women it has grown by a significant 27 minutes,” one of the experts told RBC.
