Although August is already halfway through, the hot weather continues day and night.

If the tropical night continues into tonight, Seoul and Busan are expected to record their longest tropical nights on record, and this sweltering midnight heat is expected to continue until the end of the month.

I am reporter Dayoung Moon.

Some citizens were unable to sleep due to the hot weather.

“I think I feel very refreshed when I go out to eat such delicious food and soak my feet in the Han River.”

Have a drink filled with thin ice and soak your feet in running water to cool down.

Teenage students rarely leave the water park.

“It’s so cool, I really don’t want to go out.”

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, as of 11 p.m., the temperature in the Yeouido area where I am currently is close to 30 degrees.

As of today, Seoul has experienced tropical nights for 26 consecutive days.

This is the same as 26 days of longest tropical nights ever recorded in Seoul in 2018.

By the end of this week, the minimum temperature in Seoul is expected to exceed tropical night standards by 25 degrees. If the forecast goes as expected, the record for the longest tropical night is expected to be set every day starting tonight.

Busan is also expected to surpass the longest tropical night record since meteorological observations, and Jeju Island’s tropical nights will also last for more than a month.

After mid-August, the intense heat in South Korea tends to subside, but this year the intense heat continues.

“Moist air is brought in along the edge of the North Pacific high pressure, causing daytime temperatures to rise due to strong solar radiation, but high humidity prevents nighttime temperatures from falling, resulting in tropical nights.”

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicts that tropical nights will last until the end of the month.
