80,000 music fans saw the ten concerts on the Meierhofwiese. Six gigs were sold out with 9000 visitors: Volbeat (within two hours), OneRepublic, Hollywood Vampires, Bilderbuch and on Saturday Pizzera and Jaus. The “newcomers” were very amused by the area below Clam Castle: “I really don’t have the words. Clam is one of the top five places for open-air concerts,” said Ryan Tedder, hit writer of OneRepublic.
US superstar Lionel Richie, who started the concert summer on June 25, was also in a good mood. After a refreshing sip, he had the laughs on his side: “Oida,” said the affable 74-year-old with a grimace.
Bilderbuch also put on a great show. “Maurice Ernst might become the Austrian Freddie Mercury”, Michael Ehrenbrandtner was impressed by the Upper Austrian band’s performance and show. The 60-year-old is overjoyed by the visitor record, although he knows “that the bar is set high when you hire such superstars. But word of our quality gets around. Many stars don’t see their performances with us as work, but as Vacation.”
The concert season is anything but vacation for the crew: Around 400 people work per concert and thus guarantee that everything runs smoothly. Before the Pizzera und Jaus concert on Saturday, the Meierhofwiese was covered with a tarpaulin due to the forecast rainfall. The concert went according to plan. Ehrenbrandtner: “A thousand thanks to all the helpers.”
Status Quo, Canned Heat and Ten Years After are already fixed for Clam Rock 2024. Tickets on clamlive.at.
