Due to the eruptive activity, Conred asked the authorities to keep monitoring the communities near the volcano, within a radius of 5 to 7 kilometers.
The most vulnerable places are:
- The Assumption
- Rochelle
- Panimaché I and II
- Morelia and
- hagia sophia
Temporary closure due to activity of the Fuego volcano in May 2023
According to the authorities, the eruptive activity is maintained at a height of 600 meters above sea level.
In addition, it is moving over the southwest and west more than 50 kilometers away, and showers are expected in the followingnoon that would produce drops of lahars.
The routes that have temporary closures are:
- Kilometer 84 towards Escuintla, jurisdiction of Alotenango.
- And kilometer 95 and 96, of the RN14, El Rodeo village, Escuintla
