October 23, 2024 | St. Marien Hospital Mülheim an der Ruhr, heart and vessels

Gather round, folks! As part of Germany’s nationwide heart weeks, you’re invited to an event that promises not just information but possibly a rallying cry to keep your ticker in top condition. Get ready to be schooled on heart failure at the illustrious St. Marien Hospital Mülheim, in partnership with the VHS Mülheim and the German Heart Foundation. Yes, it’s free – no need to break the bank to make sure your heart doesn’t!

What’s the Deal?

Mark your calendars for November 27, 2024, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the VHS (Aktienstraße 45). It’s a lecture dedicated to that pesky problem known as heart failure. Whether you’re already sporting a stethoscope or just want to know why you feel like a bag of rocks after a brisk walk, this is the place to be.

Why Should You Care?

Heart failure isn’t just a term you hear in medical dramas; it’s a harsh reality for about 440,000 people in Germany each year. Imagine, if you will, your heart throwing a tantrum because it just can’t keep up. But wait, there’s a silver lining! Early detection can switch that narrative.

Many of us might brush off symptoms like fatigue or shortness of breath as merely signs of aging — a misconception that might turn a trivial flight into a near-miss. “I’m just tired, must be my age!” Spoiler alert: It could be your heart begging for help!

Meet the Expert!

Emerging from the heart of St. Marien Hospital is none other than Prof. Dr. Heinrich Wieneke, Chief Physician of the Cardiology Clinic, ready to enlighten us with insights and palpable enthusiasm that can only come from a heart-savvy professional. Bring your queries because this is your chance to engage with the best!

October 23, 2024 St. Marien Hospital Mülheim an der Ruhr, heart and vessels

As part of the nationwide heart weeks, the St. Marien Hospital Mülheim an der Ruhr (SMH), in cooperation with the adult education center (VHS) Mülheim and the German Heart Foundation eV, invites you to a free information evening on the subject of heart failure.

The lecture will take place on Wednesdaythe November 27, 2024 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m in the VHS (Aktienstrasse 45). Anyone interested in finding out more about the symptoms, causes and treatment options for this widespread heart disease is cordially invited to take part.

Heart failure – also known as heart failure – is one of the most common causes of hospital admissions in Germany. Around 440,000 people have to be hospitalized every year because their heart’s pumping capacity is no longer sufficient to supply the body with sufficient blood and oxygen. The disease often begins gradually: those affected initially only notice non-specific symptoms such as reduced performance, rapid exhaustion and shortness of breath. These signs are often dismissed as signs of aging or temporary fatigue – a misconception that can have serious consequences. If left untreated, the disease progresses and can severely limit the lives of those affected.

Prof. Dr. Heinrich Wieneke, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Cardiology at St. Marien-Hospital Mülheim, will explain in his lecture together with his team of experts how important it is to detect and treat heart failure at an early stage. The event also offers the opportunity to ask questions to the experts.

Die Event is free of chargeone Registration however, is due to the limited number of participants necessary. Those interested can register directly at the VHS Mülheim by providing the course number.
