Manama: The OICC Palakkad District Committee hosted a reception for Mohammed Abdurahman, President of the Thai KMCC and a 34-year-old senior member of the Canadian Bank, Nova Scotia. District Vice President Nisar Kunnamkulathingal presided over the function held at the OICC office. District General Secretary Salmanul Faris welcomed the gathering. Bahrain OICC National President Binu Kunnanthanam inaugurated the reception.
In his reply, Mohammad Abdurrahman shared some of his unique experiences working at Bank of Nova Scozia’s branches in Egypt, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Thailand. It was a different experience for the audience as he spoke emotionally regarding the history of the countries he worked in, his way of life, customs, rituals, food, celebrations, and his affectionate treatment of foreigners, especially himself and his family.
Chacha Nehru, the sculptor of the Indian nation, along with modern-day Egyptian sculptor Gamal Abdul Nasser, recalls his childhood memories of an Egyptian citizen who named his children ‘Nehru’ and ‘Indira Priyadarshini’ in honor of Nehruji for his contributions to the non-aligned world.
He said he was happy with his life and was now trying to pass on the experience and knowledge he had gained to a growing generation. Arriving in Bahrain for a short visit, he is leading a leisurely life in Karimba, Palakkad district. He is also active in leisure, education and philanthropy. OICC National General Secretary Bobby Parayil, National Secretaries Mathews Valakuzhi and Javad Vakkom, District Presidents Shaji Pozhiyoor, Chemban Jalal, Feroz Arafa, Malappuram District General Secretary Ramshad Ayilakkad and Mohammad Razak addressed the meeting.
