Several shots were fired during the night from Wednesday to Thursday at the facade of a house on rue Wéry, located in the Brussels commune of Ixelles, the spokesperson for the Brussels public prosecutor’s office, Yasmina Vanoverschelde, confirmed on Thursday. The prosecution reports several incidents that have occurred in recent days at the same location. An investigation is underway.
Around 1 a.m., several residents called the police following hearing shots in the street. Officers from the Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police zone then immediately arrived on the scene.
“There are no casualties”indicated the prosecution. “Bullets were found at the address where the shooting took place, as well as bullet holes in the facade of the house targeted by the shooting”added the latter.
Later that night, the public prosecutor’s office was informed and ordered the first investigative duties. A judicial perimeter was set up and the laboratory arrived on the scene.
On the night of December 20, around 2:56 a.m., a similar incident also occurred on rue Wéry, explains the prosecution. He confirms that once more, no injuries were reported.
The Brussels public prosecutor’s office also reported an explosion, still at the same address, which occurred around 1:40 a.m. on December 18. The Brussels public prosecutor’s office and the federal judicial police laboratory then descended on the scene, and the victims were allowed to return home once the danger had passed. During this incident, a person was injured in the foot following trying to escape, informs the prosecution.
An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of these facts and to identify the perpetrators.
