Recent Earthquakes: Updates on UAE, Iran, India, and Afghanistan

Abu Dhabi: A slight earthquake was reported in the UAE. A third earthquake hit Iran today and the UAE also felt the tremors. The National Center of Metrology (NCM) said that light tremors were felt in northern UA. But no casualty was reported.

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake occurred in Iran around 12.22pm UAE local time. This is the third earthquake in Iran. An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 at 9.10 am and magnitude 5.5 at 8.59 am was recorded in Iran.

A slight earthquake was also felt in Delhi last Sunday. A slight earthquake of magnitude 3.1 was felt in the national capital region. The epicenter of the earthquake was nine kilometers away from Faridabad, Haryana, at a depth of ten kilometers.

A strong earthquake struck Horat in western Afghanistan just following 12 noon Indian time on October 7. It is reported that more than 4000 people have died in the two earthquakes of magnitude 6.2 on the Richter scale. The Afghanistan National Disaster Management Authority has informed that around 2000 houses have been completely destroyed.

Last August, earthquakes were felt in Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. A magnitude of 5.8 was recorded. The epicenter was the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan. The National Center for Seismology reported that it originated 181 km deep inside the Earth.
