Our colleagues from Het Laaste Nieuws report that a 12-year-old girl was hit by a car late Thursday followingnoon in Beernem in the Flemish Region. A SMUR helicopter was dispatched to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. “His condition is stable,” said the local police spokesperson. The victim suffered from a concussion.
Also according to Het Laaste Nieuws, around 5:00 p.m., four children were crossing a street when an octogenarian driver appeared and was unable to avoid one of the children. The girl hit the car head-on and fell back onto the sidewalk.
An investigation is opened to determine the circumstances of the accident.
