At least 23 people have been injured in a 5.2 magnitude quake that hit southern Turkey just six months following earthquakes devastated the region.

Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca said on Thursday evening that most of the victims were injured by falling or jumping from a certain height.

The seismic activity monitoring center in Istanbul reported that the quake struck at 8:47 p.m. Thursday evening. The epicenter was in the municipality of Yesilyurt in the province of Malatya.

This is one of the provinces that were badly damaged by the earthquakes of February 6th. Mayor Selahattin Gürkan said no less than 2,300 people died in Malatya in the tragedy. That day, two earthquakes and their followingshocks shook southern Turkey and northern Syria, killing more than 50,000 people.
