[Reporter Lin Xiaoyun/Taipei Report]The 25th World Scout Jamboree, hosted by the Scout Association of Korea this year, was originally scheduled to be held at the Saemangeum Camp in Jeollabuk-do, South Korea from August 1st to 12th. There are a total of 158 countries and 43,000 people. Several scouts participated, but nearly a thousand scouts suffered from heatstroke due to heat waves. In the camp, there were also controversies and situations such as confirmed cases of Wuhan pneumonia, serious mosquito bites, suspected riots in Thailand, and Typhoon Kanu hitting South Korea. Britain, the United States, etc. China evacuated ahead of schedule, and the organizers also decided to end the jamboree early and retreat to Seoul. The closing ceremony was held yesterday. More than 1,600 scouts from China have returned to China one following another today. The next session will be hosted by Poland.

Su Chuankai, head of the public relations department of the Chinese Scouting Delegation, said that following the Chinese Scouting Corps withdrew to Seoul, they moved to the student dormitories of Seoul City University, Korea University, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Sejong University. A total of 158 students participated in the closing ceremony yesterday. Scouts from all over the country gathered at the World Cup Stadium. This is the venue where South Korea hosted the World Cup in 2002. It is a world-class venue that can accommodate more than 60,000 people. The closing ceremony was simple and grand. Next time, Poland, the host country of the 2027 World Jamboree, will also meet Scouts from all over the world in Poland.

The outside world believes that the South Korean government is trying to use “the power of Korean culture” to save the problematic World Scout Jamboree. Therefore, a large-scale K-pop concert was arranged at the closing ceremony, with 18 K-POP groups on stage. Speaking at the closing ceremony before the concert, South Korean Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said he regretted that the Scout friends had experienced unprecedented heat waves and typhoons caused by climate change.
