Recap: David Pastrnak Scores Double, Boston Bruins Fall to Philadelphia Flyers in Shootout

David Pastrnak scored a double in a 4-3 loss for the Boston Bruins against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Flyers won this duel in a shootout. Bobby Brink and Morgan Frost both beat Linus Ullmark to give the Flyers the victory.

Joel Farabee opened the scoring in the first period, before seeing Pastrnak level the score five minutes later. Former Montreal Canadiens Ryan Poehling then scored his second goal in as many preparatory games to give his team the lead again. Poehling signed a one-year contract worth $1.4 million with Philly this offseason.

Pastrnak tied the game again in the second period with a superb breakaway goal alone. Quebecer Frédéric Brunet then gave the Bruins the lead for the very first time in the game.

Brink brought both teams back to square one by hitting the target at the start of the third period. The Bruins had a few chances to win the game in overtime, but were unable to overcome Calvin Petersen.

Petersen amassed the victory by stopping 16 of the 17 shots aimed at him. Linus Ullmark was in net for the Bruins for the entire game. He made 32 saves.

Robert marks; Perets requested

Quebecer Félix Robert collected two points in a 4-0 victory for the Tampa Bay Lightning against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Robert never played a regular season game in the NHL. Last season, he wore the Syracuse Crunch uniform for 55 games.

Robert scored the Lightning’s second goal in the middle period. He also got an assist on Luke Glendening’s goal. Anthony Cirelli stood out in the victory with two goals.

Quebecer Yaniv Perets played the entire match in front of the Canes net. He rejected 24 pucks on 28 shots.

An assist from Poirier

In the Calgary Flames’ 2-1 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers, Jeremie Poirier recorded an assist.

The Quebec defender was an accomplice on Elias Lindholm’s net, which at that time made the score 1-0 Flames.

Dylan Holloway tied the score in the third period to force overtime. Brad Malone ended the game when he beat Dan Vladar. The Flames goalie concluded his evening with 28 saves.

Jack Campbell was in front of the Oilers cage for the entire game making 34 saves.
