Japanese automaker Nissan announced on Friday July 14 the recall of nearly 700,000 vehicles in Japan for various manufacturing defects. He also warned that at least 749,000 cars were going to be affected abroad. These different faults concern the Note, Note Aura, Serena, Kicks and the Leaf electric car. The group assures that these manufacturing defects have not caused any accidents in Japan so far.
A total of 699,000 units of these models are affected in the country and many of them are affected by several defects at the same time, a spokeswoman for the group told AFP. In detail, Nissan has recalled 484,025 units of its Note, Serena and Kicks models in Japan for insufficient protection of their engine pipes, which might damage these sheaths and prevent the vehicle from starting.
The automaker also recalled 478,199 Note, Note Aura, Serena, Kicks and Leaf units because of an electronic control program that might cause vehicles to accelerate. Finally, the group recalled 126,000 Serena for a wiring problem and 6,434 Note Aura for a problem with the right front headlight.
