Rebranding: NÜRNBERGER Versicherung Austria becomes Merkur Lebensversicherung | AssCompact

“Over the past four decades, NÜRNBERGER Austria has earned an excellent reputation as a quality insurer and provider of selected solutions in risk protection and future provision. NÜRNBERGER is regarded as a specialist in occupational disability insurance and is a pioneer in unit-linked life insurance in Austria. We look forward to bringing these strengths to the Merkur Group and developing them further for the benefit of our customers and sales partners,” says Kurt Molterer, CEO of Merkur Versicherung

The change in the company name is also linked to a new joint brand identity. This rebranding takes place in stages and primarily involves changes in the visual appearance. “This will not change anything for our sales partners. Rather, they can continue to rely on our brand values in the future: excellent product solutions, efficient processes, excellent services and a great team,” explains Molterer.

With Merkur Lebensversicherung, the Merkur Group will further expand its position in the area of personal insurance and further consolidate its strategic goal of being the first choice for personal insurance as a personal insurer. “We are pleased to be part of this great development as Merkur Lebensversicherung,” concludes Molterer.

Product optimization through merger with NÜRNBERGER

In the course of a background discussion at the AssCompact Trend Days, Markus Spellmeyer, who has strengthened the management team of Merkur Versicherung as the new Sales Director since the beginning of August, also emphasized the advantages of the rebranding of Merkur Lebensversicherung: “As a health insurer with little expertise in life insurance, Merkur has when buying the NÜRNBERGER made a conscious strategic decision to secure the ‘human miracle’ even better in the future. With Merkur life insurance, we can now also cover the areas of unit-linked life insurance as well as occupational disability and long-term care insurance. In terms of sales, two very strong teams find each other. On the one hand, Merkur Versicherung with its expertise in health insurance and, on the other hand, NÜRNBERGER Leben’s sales department in the area of unit-linked life insurance and occupational disability insurance. Both tariff worlds are strong, competitive and very well positioned in the market.”

Spellmeyer also assured that nothing will change for the sales partners in the future: “Although all Merkur sales channels will be my responsibility from the first half of next year, this will not change anything for our sales partners themselves. The Merkur products have become even stronger through the merger with NÜRNBERGER Versicherung and our expertise even greater.”

Markus Spellmeyer looks back on an exciting 66 days since moving to Merkur Versicherung: “On the first day, despite 26 years of industry experience, I felt like a little schoolboy once more. The anticipation of starting a new job was very great and I quickly realized that Merkur is actually as cool as it appears on the outside.”

Spellmeyer reports a spirit of optimism prevailing in the company, above all among the employees of Merkur Lebensversicherung. “You want to make a difference and change the market. External feedback is also very positive. We are perceived as an attractive, modern employer that defines and lives certain things differently and also reflects them in its culture. The corporate culture at Merkur is not an empty shell, but filled with agile working and modern work. Buying an insurance company can trigger different emotions in the company. In the case of NÜRNBERGER, the two grew together very quickly. The demonstration of the new logo has now come full circle.”
