Rebirth of Beantown Basketball: The Celtics’ Quest to Revive a Legacy

The NBA has released the results of its annual survey of team general managers in the basketball league. In the survey released on Wednesday (9/10) WIB, there is one team that is the favorite to become champion this season.

With a landslide lead of 83%, NBA team general managers favor the Boston Celtics to defend their title.

This year, the Celtics became champions after beating the Dallas Mavericks 4-1 in the final match. It was the Celtics’ 18th NBA title.

The Oklahoma City Thunder came in second with 13% of the vote, followed by the Mavericks who only won 3% of the vote.

The Celtics will start their work in the NBA next season against the New York Knicks on October 22.

No team has successfully defended the NBA title since the Golden State Warriors in the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

Despite failing to win the MVP title last season, Mavericks star Luka Doncic dominated the votes for players in the survey.

Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander received the most votes in the MVP category with 40% of the vote.

Gilgeous-Alexander posted 30.1 points, 62 assists and 5.5 rebounds per game last season but lost out to Nikola Jokic in the MVP race.

Doncic ranked second in voting for MVP with 30% of the vote. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid, Jokic and Jayson Tatum tied for third place with 7% of the vote.

Doncic then won the most votes in the point guard, shooting guard and small forward categories.

The Mavericks star received the most votes in the point guard category with 37%, ranked fifth in the shooting guard category, and second in the small forward category.

Anthony Edwards was voted the best at shooting guard with 33% of the vote while Tatum was the best at small forward with 47% of the vote.

Last season, Doncic posted an NBA-best 33.9% points per game when he took the Mavericks to the NBA Finals for the first time since the Dirk Nowitzki era.

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo was voted best power forward with 77% of the vote while Jokic received 87% of the vote in the best center category. (yahoo sports/Z-1)
