The Parliament is proceeding with the pilot application of the measure of interposing the speeches of two MPs between the speeches of party leaders in the Plenary. As the President of the House, Konstantinos Tasoulas, said at today’s meeting, the measure proposed to the Conference of Presidents by PASOK-Movement of Change secretary Evangelia Liakoulis, will be applied as a pilot, and if it proves to be functional, it will be included in the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament. The motion was unanimously accepted by the House.
As Mr. Tasoulas said, with this measure “we will facilitate the work of ordinary MPs, who need to wait several hours to speak”. He reminded, in fact, that in the current period of the Parliament there are essentially ten “parties”, as in addition to the nine Parliamentary Groups there are also the 14 independent MPs.
The President of the Parliament also committed to debate the proposal tabled by the secretary of the ND Committee of the People, Stavros Kalafatis, so that the speaking time of political leaders and government ministers is determined on the basis of an automatic timer, as is done in the European Parliament but and in several national Parliaments.
