The Tesla opponents protested on the excavator near the railway tracks from Berlin towards Frankfurt (Oder), around 500 meters from the Fangschleuse train station, a police spokesman said. There were another 25 to 30 people in the forest next to it. They said there were no disturbances.
Since the end of February, environmental activists in Grünheide have been turning against Tesla in a forest camp with tree houses. Their protest was fundamentally directed against a planned expansion of the factory site for a freight station and logistics areas.
According to the police’s initial findings, the three activists on the excavator were able to slip through the fence that had been erected in the afternoon. They have so far ignored a request from the police to leave the construction machine.
The environmental activists from “Stop Tesla” wrote in their Telegram channel with a view to Tesla boss Elon Musk: “A freight station is being built here for a billionaire, endangering the forest and drinking water. But not with us! Now people are standing still .”
