Víctor Fernández’s men surprise the yellows on their return to the Second Division
Cádiz CF was thrashed 0-4 in its league debut against Real Zaragoza.
A tough blow for Cadiz, who succumbed to a team that took advantage of their rival’s excessive responsibility.
Soberón would be the great threat for the yellows in the first half. The Zaragoza striker scored twice. In the 13th minute he struck from long distance and Caro did not touch it hard enough to prevent the ball from entering the goal. Only three minutes later the Cadiz goalkeeper would prevent the second in a double chance for the protagonist, and his teammate Bazdar. And in the 42nd minute, he finished alone inside the six-yard box to extend the lead.
After the restart, Paco López made three changes to his starting eleven. Alcaraz, Zaldua and Glauder replaced Matos, Chust and Diakité. Víctor Fernández was forced to change his goalkeeper Femenías due to injury, bringing on Poussin in the 55th minute. Three minutes later, Brian Ocampo came on to change the game. In the 66th minute, a great move by the Uruguayan was not finished off by Chris Ramos with a header unmarked inside the area. These were the best minutes for the yellows, creating opportunities to reduce the gap. In the 73rd minute, Poussin saved a free kick from Rubén Alcaraz. But the visitors would increase the lead. Aketxe scored the third goal with a shot too easily inside the area. And a hesitation by Caro in the 90th minute was taken advantage of by Luna to seal the fourth.
After the third goal, many fans left their seats and walked out of the stadium.
Next up, Paco López’s men will visit Ciudad de Valencia on Saturday at 7:30pm to take on UD Levante.
