Gareth Bale (32) and Real Madrid? A chapter that is coming to an end. On the one hand, the Welshman’s contract in Madrid expires in the summer, on the other hand, the man who has played in Madrid since 2013 is really fed up with the Royals. And he shows it whenever he gets the chance.
The latest example: Bale skipped the championship celebration. Bale was also absent from the 4-0 win over Espanyol that secured Madrid the title on Saturday. Not even in the stadium. He complained of back problems. However, Real’s medical staff might not find any injuries.
Apparently, Bale’s pain was so great that he was unable to attend the 35th championship celebration at the Cibeles Fountain in downtown Madrid. “I’m so disappointed not to be able to attend the celebrations tonight due to a bad back spasm, but I’m very proud of the team that won the title! Have fun tonight guys!” Bale wrote on Twitter hours following the Espanyol game.
“You will regret it”
A goal helped Bale to the league title this season. In five games. After nine years at Real – he spent one season on loan at Tottenham – he will leave the club in the summer. It is unclear where he will be drawn to. The MLS should be an issue, but a return to the Premier League is also being discussed. Or will it be an adventure in the east?
For Bale’s adviser Jonathan Barnett, the farewell leaves a stale followingtaste. “In the next 20 years, fans will see how good Bale was and they will regret it,” he says. Bale has won the league title three times, the Champions League four times and the cup once with Real.
