The image of France took quite a blow last Saturday, during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid. Several thousand supporters with real tickets were unable to enter in part due to technical problems, causing dangerous crowd movements. The affair then escalated when the French Minister of the Interior and Minister of Sports publicly questioned the behavior of English fans. In short, so many contradictory versions which forced Reds and Merengues to react. And this Friday, Real Madrid have just released a statement asking for clarification.

“Given the unfortunate events that took place on May 28 in the vicinity and entrances of the Stade de France, including inside the stadium itself, Real Madrid CF would like to state the following in defense of our supporters victims of these events:
1.- We want to know what were the reasons that led to this designation of the venue for the final and what criteria were taken into consideration given what happened that day.
2.- Likewise, we demand answers and explanations that determine who was responsible for leaving the fans helpless and defenseless. A few followers whose general behavior has been exemplary at all times.
We understand that what should have been a big football party for all the fans who attended the game turned into unfortunate events that caused deep outrage around the world.
As clearly seen in the revealing images offered by the media, many fans were violently attacked, harassed, robbed and robbed. Some events also took place while they were driving in their car or bus fearing for their physical integrity. Some of them even had to spend the night in the hospital for injuries sustained.
Football has transmitted to the world an image far removed from the values and objectives that it must always pursue.
Our supporters deserve an answer and that the relevant responsibilities be clarified so that situations such as those experienced are eradicated from football and sport forever. »
