When ?

The 2022 UEFA Super Cup will take place on Wednesday August 10, 2022.

Where ?

The 2022 UEFA Super Cup will take place at the Olympic Stadium in Helsinki. The match will be the first UEFA club competition final to be held in Finland.

This venue will be the tenth to host the UEFA Super Cup since the match left its permanent home in Monaco, after Prague (2013), Cardiff (2014), Tbilisi (2015), Trondheim (2016), Skopje (2017 ), Tallinn (2018), Istanbul (2019), Budapest (2020) and Belfast (2021).

What does the stadium look like?

As its name suggests, the stadium was built to host the Olympic Games which took place in 1952 and underwent major renovations between 2016 and 2020. Its distinctive tower rises to 72.71 m, the distance achieved by the winner of the javelin competition Matti Järvinen during the 1932 Olympics.

The stadium also hosts the matches of the national team of Finland. The team is nicknamed the Eurasian Eagle Owls after a bird, Bubi, who had taken up residence in the stadium and delayed a UEFA EURO 2008 qualifier against Belgium by perching on the one of the goals. He then found refuge elsewhere following a rock concert.
