Real Madrid: Eduardo Camavinga, victim of a sprained left knee, unavailable for several weeks

The verdict is in for Eduardo Camavinga. Injured in training on Tuesday, French midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is suffering from a sprained internal ligament in his left knee and should be out for several weeks, the Madrid club announced in a statement. “After the tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga, he has been diagnosed with a sprained internal collateral ligament in his left knee,” wrote the Spanish giant, which as usual did not specify the length of its player’s absence, even if the Spanish press estimates it to be between six and seven weeks.

Left on the ground holding his left leg in training after contact with Aurélien Tchouaméni on the eve of the European Super Cup final against Atalanta on Wednesday (9 p.m.), the French international is expected to miss the start of the season with Real, as well as the first Nations League window with Les Bleus on September 6 and 9. This injury is a major blow for the reigning Spanish and European champions, who may have to recruit an additional midfielder, following the retirement of their German metronome Toni Kroos, who has not been replaced in the squad.
