Doubts are clearly focused on his handling of the final stages of the Madrid derby, when he decided to include Lucas Vazquez and Fran Garcia at the expense of Luka Modric and Rodrigo, to play on the flanks in front of Dani Carvajal and Ferlan Mendy.
Ancelotti defended his decision after the match, saying that he would do the same thing more than once if he had to, and this determination comes due to the lack of options available to him on the bench, despite the presence of Turkish playmaker Arda Guler.
As for the board of directors, they feel that Ancelotti is using Modric too much in light of Guler’s presence, in addition to not being able to rotate players properly to prevent injuries.
Despite the confidence in Ancelotti to fix things, as he did with Real Madrid more than once, there is a state of rising discontent at the Santiago Bernabeu, which the Italian will have to resist by improving results and performance, similar to what he did last season by achieving the Spanish League and Champions League titles.
