Reader: Has the municipality once again failed the citizens’ values?

This is a discussion post. The post is an expression of the writer’s own position.

It can be difficult to follow councilor Jan Nymark Thaysen from Aalborg Municipality.

It was not long ago that he, together with the mayor and others, presented the plans for a new stadium and huge indoor handball mecca at a large planned press conference.

Everything had to be financed by investors, who then in return got the right to house construction.

Hundreds of millions were wasted, because where is the trotting track going to be? And who pays for the new trotting track? Who buys the land for the new trotting track?

After all, the old race track didn’t bring in any money.

Who believes in the idea of the trade – trotting track and new stadium plus hall, and where will the housing be?

The trotting track’s areas are not sufficient for that project, but what is behind it? Let’s hear. The zoo can contain everything except housing, because the area is not designed for that. Therefore, the finger points down to the councillor.

Aalborg sells out

But in North Jutland we can read that the Vester Mariendal Mill, worth preserving, is suffering. The councilor states that there is no money in the coffers for renovation, and so the question is asked: What is the ups and downs in the councillor’s explanation?

Has the municipality sold the city’s best plots of land once more? This time in Nørresundby for residential construction. So these are land areas of great value, and has the municipality now once more failed the citizens’ values by several hundred million kroner? Money for roads, yes, they are also waiting for repairs.

The municipality’s properties suffer from a lack of maintenance, so let’s hear councilor Jan Nymark Thaysen: How do you want to run a municipality in the future that may have sold off the heritage and the old mill? Because as you say yourself: The box is empty.
