Outgoing centrist senators Isabelle Chassot and PLR Johanna Gapany were re-elected on Sunday at the end of the 2nd round of the election to the Council of States in Fribourg. The third candidate, PS Alizée Rey, is slightly behind.

Big favorite, Isabelle Chassot, 58 years old, obtained 38,161 votes. The former State Councilor and former director of the Federal Office of Culture had dominated the first round, however far from the absolute majority, ahead of Johanna Gapany by 7,000 votes, with whom she forms the Friborg duo in the States.

For Johanna Gapany, with her 30,538 votes the task proved more difficult. The 35-year-old from Bulloise took the seat of the centrist Beat Vonlanthen in 2019. She made her nest in Bern, but some of her social positions may have prevented centrist voters from slipping her name with that of Isabelle Chassot.

Alizée Rey, 36, benefited from a left-wing alliance sealed well before October 22. She achieved a solid score of 29,624 votes.
