RCT solidarity, Parisian attack in decline… The highs and lows of the match

Stade Français lost on their home turf at Jean-Bouin to RCT (10-14) at the end of the 3rd day. Discover the highs and lows of the match.

TOPS

A united Toulon team

The RCT was valiant throughout the match to avoid being caught up in the score by Stade Français (14-10 victory). Throughout the match, the visiting team trembled but did not give in to the repeated attacks of the Parisians, who were unable to find the solution to break through the white curtain of Toulon. This is evidenced by the last sequence of 2min30 which saw Toulon block Stade Français in the last seconds of the match before recovering the ball and sending it into touch to conclude the match.

The seriousness of the RCT scorers

In a match where the weather was capricious, Toulon’s scorers, Garbisi, Dormon and Hervé were also the great architects of their team’s victory. Unlike Louis Carbonel who scored zero points on his three penalties. Toulon managed to capitalize on its only actions of the match and it was a good thing for them to obtain this oh so important victory.

FLOPS

A match spoiled by rain

Unlike the UBB-Racing 92 match which saw a shower of points last night (86 including 13 tries), the Stade Français-Toulon match was marked by a shower of… handling errors. The deluge falling on the Jean-Bouin stadium, the 30 players had a lot of trouble controlling the ball during the match. The pace of the match itself was far too slow, interrupted by all the handling errors and other penalties of all kinds.

Stade Français too sterile in attack

Simple penalties missed, actions stopped by forward passes in the 22m… Stade Français was anything but lucky during this match. A disappointment for the Parisians who wanted to recover this victory to be in the top 6 of the championship and who ultimately saw RCT take the place they coveted. The Stade players will be able to blame themselves, because RCT was beatable but the lack of realism during major actions tipped the match in the other direction.
