At RBB, the clocks seem to be running a bit differently: New Year’s Day was already celebrated in the program there on the night of December 31, as various media reports.
On Friday evening on RBB, the regular program of the “most beautiful cult hits of the 60s” was suddenly interrupted by a countdown just before midnight, like that Media magazine DWDL reports.
At midnight sharp, moderator Janna Falkenstein spoke up with the words “Dear people in Berlin and Brandenburg or wherever they are watching us: Happy New, as we like to say.”
She also wished viewers a “healthy and happy, exciting but not too exciting New Year 2023.”
Heinz Rudolf Kunze was also in the studio at the piano and played the song “Your is my whole heart”. It only changed at around 12:45 a.m RBB then according to the reports back to his originally planned program.
According to RBB spokesman Justus Demmer, the cause of the mess was a technical error.
This marks the beginning of 2022 for the public broadcaster following the chaos surrounding the former RBB director Patricia Schlesinger and numerous other negative messages ended with another glitch.
