RB Leipzig was forced to draw (1-1) on the pitch at Werder Bremen on Tuesday, on the occasion of the 16th day of the Bundesliga. Loïs Openda was the first scorer of the evening but Werder, 13th in the standings, equalized 15 minutes from time.
At the start of the second half, Openda, launched from deep, won his shoulder duel with his defender but had to try once more three times to beat Michael Zetterer, the Werder goalkeeper, the latter having stopped a first strike and braked the second. On his third arrow, the Devils attacker just had to push the ball into the empty goal. Werder equalized (76th) with a nice strike from Justin Njinmah from the half-pipe.
Openda was lined up at the forefront of Leipzig’s attack, alongside Dane Yussuf Poulsen. He is the third top scorer in the championship with 11 goals, nine fewer than Harry Kane, who is also discovering the German championship this season. Olivier Deman and Senne Lynen were on the bench for Bremen. The first replaced Felix Agu (83rd) and the second Christian Gross (82nd).
In the standings, Leipzig remains in third place (33 points) six points behind leader Leverkusen, but might be overtaken by Stuttgart, fourth (31 points) which hosts Augsburg on Wednesday. Werder are 13th with 16 points.
This is his eleventh goal in the Bundesliga for the man who provided an assist this weekend.
