Rays win in Detroit at the hands of Kluber, Lowe

DETROIT — Brandon Lowe hit a tiebreaking two-run double in the eighth inning for the Tampa Bay Rays, who drew a franchise-record 13 walks and rallied to beat the Tigers 5-3. Detroit on Friday.

Three of the walks came in the eighth inning, in which Tampa Bay scored three runs. The Rays trailed 3-0 following two innings before rallying to win their third straight game.

Tampa had walked 12 times in an 11-inning win once morest the Marlins on June 19, 2010, and had walked 11 times in nine-inning games several times.

The Tigers led 3-2 going into the eighth when Joe Jimenez (3-1) walked the first two batters, the 11th and 12th of the game. Lowe followed with a two-run double.

Isaac Paredes, traded from Detroit to the Rays in the spring, made it 5-3 with an RBI single.

Jalen Beeks (2-1) scored the win with seven scoreless innings.

For the Rays, Mexican Isaac Paredes 2-1 with one produced; Venezuelan David Peralta 5-1 with an RBI; Cubans Randy Arozarena 4-1 and Yandy Díaz 4-0; and Dominican Francisco Mejía 3-0.

For the Tigres, the Venezuelans Víctor Reyes 4-1 with a run scored and Harold Castro 4-0; Puerto Ricans Willi Castro 4-1 and Javier Báez 4-1.
