Rays send José Sirí to the disabled list (hamstring)

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Tampa Bay Rays center fielder José Sirí has gone on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring and Vidal Bruján has been recalled from Durham of Triple-A on Saturday.

Siri was injured jumping to catch a long ball to center from Oakland’s Seth Brown in the eighth inning of the Rays’ 9-5 win Friday. He stayed in the game.

“He’s got a sore hamstring,” manager Kevin Cash said. “On the play on the wall, he took it. I don’t think he thought it was wrong. He said he felt a tug, but he was a little hot at the moment. This morning he woke up and was in more pain than we expected.”

Siri has a .318 batting average with two home runs and eight RBIs in six games this season. He has had strong defense in the outfield.

Bruján has played in 62 major league games, including 52 with the Rays in 2022. Two of his four games this season in the minors have come at center.
