RayNeo Unveils X3 Pro AR Glasses: lightweight adn Bright

CES 2025 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for augmented reality glasses, with smaller companies making extraordinary strides. One standout is RayNeo, a Chinese tech firm that unveiled their innovative X3 Pro glasses at the event. My first impression? They’ve packed a surprising amount of technology into a remarkably compact design.

MicroLED Technology for a Vivid AR Display

Similar to offerings from giants like Meta and snap, RayNeo’s X3 Pro utilizes microLED projectors and waveguides to create a vibrant, full-color augmented reality display. While the current field of view is 25 degrees, slightly smaller than its competitors, the brightness is truly impressive. Even amidst the bright lights of a Las Vegas casino ballroom, menus and text were clear and easy to read. According to the company, the display boasts a remarkable 2,500 nits.

Lightweight Design for Cozy Wear

The most striking feature of the RayNeo X3 Pro is its feather-light weight – under 3 ounces. While they don’t perfectly imitate the look of traditional eyeglasses, they come close. The placement of the onboard cameras in the center of the frames adds a touch of bulk, but the overall design is undeniably wearable.

RayNeo X3 Pro AR glasses: A Sneak Peek at the Future of Immersive Experience

RayNeo, a leading innovator in augmented reality (AR) technology, is making waves with its latest offering, the X3 Pro AR glasses. While still in the development stages, early demonstrations of the X3 Pro hint at a future where digital details seamlessly overlays our physical world.

Early App Demonstrations Show Promise

The X3 Pro’s potential is already evident in the initial apps being developed for the device. During a demonstration,I witnessed firsthand the power of real-time translation,as Chinese spoken by RayNeo’s Bernie Liu appeared as English text directly in my field of vision.

While the accuracy of the translation couldn’t be fully verified in the noisy surroundings, the technology seemed remarkably responsive.I also interacted briefly with a built-in AI assistant powered by ChatGPT and snapped a few photos, showcasing the device’s multi-faceted capabilities.

“We’re collaborating with talented developers from outside the company who are creating exciting new apps for the X3 Pro,” explained liu. “We’re hopeful that the device will launch with a robust set of features.”

Battery Life Remains a Challenge

While promising, the X3 Pro still faces the challenge of battery life,a common hurdle for AR glasses. Liu acknowledged that the current prototype offers approximately 30 minutes of usage with heavy use.

However, the company is actively working on improving battery performance and other aspects of the frames to provide users with a more seamless and extended experience.

pricing and Availability

RayNeo has not yet announced a definitive release date or official pricing for the X3 Pro.However, Liu indicated that the company aims to make the glasses available later this year for an estimated price of around $1500.

How does the narrower field of view of the RayNeo X3 Pro compare to competitors, and what measures does RayNeo take to mitigate this potential drawback?

Interview with Bernie Liu, Chief Technology Officer of RayNeo, on the X3 Pro AR Glasses

By archyde News editor

Archyde: Bernie, thank you for joining us today. The RayNeo X3 Pro AR glasses have been generating significant buzz at CES 2025. What sets these glasses apart from other AR wearables in the market?

Bernie Liu: Thank you for having me. The X3 Pro is a result of years of innovation and dedication. What truly sets it apart is the combination of cutting-edge microLED technology and a lightweight design. We’ve managed to pack a high-brightness, 2,500-nit display into a device that weighs less than 3 ounces. This ensures a vivid AR experience without compromising on comfort.

Archyde: Speaking of the display, the 25-degree field of view is slightly smaller than some competitors. How does RayNeo address this, and does it impact the user experience?

Bernie Liu: Great question. While the field of view is narrower compared to some devices, we’ve prioritized clarity and brightness. In real-world scenarios, like a bustling Las Vegas ballroom, users can still read menus and text with ease. The brightness compensates for the narrower field, ensuring that the AR elements are sharp and visible even in challenging lighting conditions.

Archyde: The X3 Pro’s lightweight design is another standout feature. How did RayNeo achieve this, and what challenges did you face during development?

Bernie Liu: Achieving a lightweight design was one of our top goals. we re-engineered the internal components, leveraging advanced materials and optimizing the placement of hardware like the onboard cameras. While there’s a slight bulk in the centre of the frames, we’ve strived to balance functionality with aesthetics. The result is a device that’s not only lightweight but also comfortable for extended wear.

Archyde: During the CES demo, we saw some impressive early app functionalities, like real-time translation and an AI assistant powered by ChatGPT. Can you tell us more about the software ecosystem you’re building for the X3 Pro?

Bernie Liu: Absolutely. The X3 Pro is more than just hardware; it’s a platform for immersive experiences. We’re collaborating with external developers to create a robust app ecosystem. The real-time translation feature, as an example, is just the beginning. We’re also exploring applications in gaming, navigation, and productivity. The built-in AI assistant, powered by chatgpt, adds a layer of interactivity, making the device a true companion for daily tasks.

Archyde: With the X3 Pro expected to launch in mid-2025, what can users expect in terms of pricing and availability?

bernie Liu: While we’re still finalizing pricing details, our aim is to make the X3 Pro accessible to a wide audience. We’ll reveal the exact price closer to the launch date. As for availability, we’re targeting a global release, ensuring that users around the world can experience the future of AR.

Archyde: what’s your vision for the future of AR technology, and how does the X3 Pro fit into that vision?

Bernie Liu: Our vision is a world where AR seamlessly integrates into our daily lives, enhancing how we work, learn, and play. The X3 Pro is a significant step toward that future. It’s not just a device; it’s a gateway to new possibilities. We believe that AR will eventually become as ubiquitous as smartphones, and with the X3 Pro, we’re paving the way for that transformation.

Archyde: Thank you, Bernie, for your insights. We’re excited to see how the X3 Pro evolves and inspires the next generation of AR technology.

Bernie Liu: Thank you. The journey has just begun, and we’re thrilled to have users join us in shaping the future of augmented reality.
